Fair Isle for Dreary Days: ootd

I have a newfound weakness for ugly sweaters, because they present me with an interesting challenge.  And I am a bit of a challenge enthusiast.  When something comes to my door with a gorgeous print and the most flattering cut, all I have to do is put it on.  But, an ugly sweater, like a buried treasure asks me to keep digging.  It tests my skill and and imagination to unlock its potential and perhaps even make it an enviable gem of my wardrobe.
A few months ago I posted about my first ugly sweater purchase, a Fair Isle pullover by Forever21, and I was instantly hooked.  So, here is my second ugly sweater endeavor, a Fair Isle cardigan by J.Crew.  I purchased this button down from ThredUp for $15 so my investment risk was minimal.  (ThredUp is my favorite online Thrift store.  If you've never checked it out, use this link to sign up and save $20 off your first order http://www.thredup.com/r/WKVOY5 )
I loved the pink, ivory colors, but wasn't so sure I liked the orange in the mix, so I wanted to focus mostly on those pastels with the pink rose earrings, pink purse, and ivory tights.  The dark orange corduroy Banana Republic skirt came from ThredUp on the same visit and was only $11.  You can see why I love ThredUp!  The darker color of the skirt helps to tone down that bright orange in the collar and bodice.  The booties just seemed the right way to finish this modest and girly outfit and at the end of it all, I love this sweater, because with the right influences around it, it is actually quite beautiful.
Do you have an ugly sweater that you love?  Send me pics of the way you love to wear it best and I may use them in a future post!
