Moments Laced with Grace

This Lil dress wasn't exactly at the top of my unicorn search, I'd just seen it and kind of liked it while browsing Anthropologie resales on Ebay a few years ago.  I liked it's sage color and earthy, flowiness to the style, but at around $60 it was always way more than I wanted to pay.  I kept it on my watch list, hoping the price might drop, but it didn't.  It turned up a little cheaper at $40 on Poshmark and I negotiated with the seller a little and found them unwilling to go as low as I needed, so I let it go and eventually they all sold off my watch lists.
A few months when Laced with Grace popped up on ThredUp for only $20, I decided it must be meant to be and good things really do come to those who wait--three years of waiting in my case.  The fabric is so thin, and it had not slip underneath, that I haven't had the chance to wear it yet.

The name of this dress reminds me a bit of a saying I have.  I originally read it in Laura Ingalls Wilder's book The First Four Years.  She called a certain time in their lives "A Season of Grace."  What she meant by this were "acts of g*d"  or as I like to call them natural disasters.  For my own life I have re-purposed the term.  The best definition of grace that I have heard is that grace is an undeserved mercy.  And, every now and then in my life I have had not just moments, but whole seasons of grace--a time when things are quiet and good.  Times when I am able to pause everyday and breathe in the moments, to step outside it all and simply enjoy and be so very thankful.

Lately with all the holiday madness and the absolute rush, rush, rush of our schedule at home and work, I haven't had much quiet time.  So, today, since the sun is out for the first time in ages, and I have no where to be, I thought it would be the perfect day to slip on this flower child laced with Grace dress, pour myself a cup of chamomile tea, and curl up with a good book in my favorite sunny spot.  I'll hug my girls while they are still home for a few more days, and maybe we'll play a game or two since it's far too cold to go for walk, and I'll take a moment to be thankful and simply enjoy.
